  • Who I am | Bettinelli Keramik

HILDA (GERTI) BETTINELLI Because I have the privilege of doing what I love every day Interview Total Regional Berlin 2022 About me As the fifth child of a German family, I was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As a teenager, I was drawn back to the homeland of my ancestors and decided to move to Munich in 1984. Although I have always had a special love for art and craft, I initially chose to study tourism and worked for the German Foundation for International Development (DSE) for 10 years. There I specialized in the further training of specialists and executives from Asia, Africa, and South America. After we moved to Berlin with my family in 2002 and explored new avenues professionally, I discovered my love for clay through coincidence during a ceramics course. This awakened my original creativity and love for art, which is why I decided to redesign my life in this direction completely. The passion never left me, and since then, I have completed numerous national and international training courses; among others, advanced seminars with the sculptor Werner Haderer and workshops with established ceramists such as Peter Klube, Karin Bablok, Pietro Elia Maddalena, Rick Hensley, Fritz Rossmann, and Orietta Mengucci. I have been running my own studio since 2012, where my works are created and exhibited. In addition, I offer courses in which knowledge, experience, and a very well-equipped workshop enable individual work. I'm also regularly at art and ceramics markets (including Kunsthand Berlin, Rheinsberg Ceramics Market, Chorin Monastery, POTS & BLITZ Vienna).

user guide Place the remains of the candle close to the wick in the upper bowl and light it The wax will start to melt, forming a small lake in the middle. The wick should stick out just above the melted wax. This avoids flickering and sooting of the flame. The flame is then regulated by the amount of wax melted. Add wax in time to be able to enjoy the calm light for a long time without having to tighten the wick. The wick should only be tightened after the wax has been used up. It is best to use pliers to help. Alternatively, you can simply screw in the wick from below Do not leave unattended!

MY WORK Potpourri 01 Cast porcelain The pure porcelain of the outer and inner layers gives the pieces a special luminosity, which is underlined by the selected color combination and original shapes. gallery 02 Thrown porcelain The black and white porcelain is thrown on the wheel and conveys images of nature that let the imagination run wild (neriage technique). gallery 03 Luminous and noble Thin paper-rice-porcelain tea lights that are as thin as eggshells and through which warm light shines. 04 The Raku Fire With its origins in Japan in the 16th century, thrown and freely moulded works are fired in a gas furnace, taken out of the furnace red hot and fired with sawdust. Glaze cracks and unique traces of smoke and soot appear. Due to the variety of techniques, playing with fire is always a surprise. learn more 05 Stoneware sculptures Basic forms are created by building up with bead and plate technology from self-mixed clay powder and fireclay of different grain sizes. The structure is altered by holes and material breakage during a slow drying process. Coffee beans, grains, wood, metal, glass, oxides now create rough or smooth surfaces that create contrasts.
